When the US Military adopted the Beretta 92 and designated it as the M9 turning it into the primary side arm for the US Military, Girsan thought they could improve on the design. In doing so the GiRSAN Regard has been the preferred side arm of Turkish Military and Law Enforcement officials for many years. The Regard is a NATO approved sidearm and is so good that the VP of EAA uses this pistol as his everyday carry sidearm.
